My fight wishlist for 2013

Note: This is a list I wrote back in December 2012, but I had taken out some of the matches that had already happened.

I will try to make this short and sweet, but here is my list of fights I want to see in 2013.

Anderson Silva vs. Georges St-Pierre

There have been rumors that this fight will soon happen, which has been a long time coming. This fight would determine the best of the best.

Minotauro Nogueira vs. Josh Barnett

With Strikeforce closing, Barnett has a better chance to come to the UFC. Even if his tenure isn’t long, he should at least get a chance to finish the trilogy he started with Big Nog back in Pride.

Kaitlin Young vs. Sarah Kaufman

This fight was supposed to take place until Kaufman had an injury. Still seeing these two fighters trade leather, even inside of the octagon, would be a dream come true for MMA fans, especially those who like a vicious stand-up fight.

Miesha Tate vs. Sara McMann

These two previously met in a grappling match, yet a clash between these two champions would be one for the ages. It would be similar to Young vs. Kaufman, except on more of a grappling level. Surely the winner of this match would get a shot at Ronda Rousey.

Alistair Overeem vs. Junior Dos Santos

If JDS can get past Cain Velasquez and Overeem can take care of Bigfoot, then I’m sure will see these two power hitters collide. The thought of this fight excites me, not only as a MMA fan, but also as a boxing fan.

Korean Zombie vs. Clay Guida

Guida is now a featherweight and if he can finish Hatsu Hioki, then he should get a crack at the Korean Zombie. Hopefully the thought of fighting Chan Sung Jung will make Guida revert back to the animal MMA fans know and love.

Wanderlei Silva vs. Vitor Belfort

This rematch also happened until Belfort injured his hand. Both men have upcoming fights; Silva taking on Briann Stann and Belfort taking on Michael Bisping. Whether they win or lose, Silva and Belfort should face off one more time before either one of them hang up the gloves.

Dan Henderson vs. Chael Sonnen

Both men have big matches coming up, but I feel like these two Team Quest teammates should sort out any issues they have with each other. At the very least, if Sonnen beats Jon Jones for the light heavyweight title and Hendo gets past Lyoto Machida, a fight between these two needs to happen.

Michael Bisping vs. Anderson Silva

I already know I said I wanted to see Anderson fight GSP, but I would also like him to show Michael Bisping (and the other 20 middleweights who like to call out the Spider after they win a fight) who is king of the 185-pound division.

Dan Hardy vs. Jon Fitch

Fitch and Hardy are both on a bit of a comeback. A match between these two dynamic welterweights could headline a television event, even a Fox event.

Leslie Smith vs. Julie Kedzie

This Cesar Gracie vs. Greg Jackson rival matchup could turn into a barn burner. Both fighters are tough and exciting to watch.

Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate

One of my favorite fights that happened in 2012, these two will coach against each other in the latest season of “The Ultimate Fighter.” Tate is filling in for Cat Zingano, who won the right to coach against Rousey after defeating Tate, but then had to pull out of the show because of injury. While the rematch between Rousey and Tate is not offical, enough sparks could fly to where these two could square off inside of the octagon.

Well fight fans, what matches do you want to see in 2013?
