Frankie Edgar’s path to main event begins at UFC 162

For the first time in three years, former UFC Lightweight champion Frankie Edgar (15-4-1) will not be fighting for a championship, nor will be competing in the main event at UFC 162, July 6.

Instead, Edgar will take on Charles Oliveira (16-3 1NC) in the co-main event prior to the Anderson Silva (33-4) vs. Chris Weidman (9-0) middleweight title fight. While Edgar may be used to having top billing, a win over Oliveira would not only snap his three-fight losing streak, but also may be the thing that starts him back on the path to a UFC championship.
