Charmaine Tweet Steps In For Injured Julia Budd At Invicta FC 6

Canadian fighter Charmaine “Not So Sweet” (4-3) Tweet began her MMA career in 2011 with a loss to Ronda Rousey (7-0) by armbar, 49 seconds into the first round .

Fast forward two years later and Tweet is now making the next step in her career as she is set to make her debut inside of the Invicta cage against Ediane Gomes (10-2), who was originally set to face Julia Budd (5-2) until Budd withdrew from the fight due to injury.

Tweet currently rides a three-fight winning streak, all of which she finished in the first round by submission. Although Gomes has more experience, Tweet’s 6-foot height may be difficult for the Brazilian to take down.

Speaking of grappling, this should be an exciting fight on the ground as Tweet and Gomes have 11 submissions between the two of them. If the fight does to the canvas, Gomes may try to take Tweet’s arm, while the Canadian will mostly try for a choke.

While it is sad that a fighter gets hurt and the bout between Gomes and Budd, which had originally been set for Invicta FC 5 until Gomes was selected to face Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos, would have probably determined a contender for the Invicta FC 145-pound title, Tweet has a chance to score the biggest win of her budding career.
