Mizuki Inoue: Japan Fighter Has Bright Future In MMA

“I will win.”

Those were the words Mizuki Inoue (6-1) said before her fight with Bec “Rowdy” Howdy (5-3) at Invicta FC 6, in what could have been a quick win for Hyatt, one of the top fighters in the world. After a first close round, Inoue controlled the second, while Hyatt came back in the third round. After 15 minutes of back-and-forth action, Inoue would get the decision.

With six fights under her belt and now the biggest win of her career under her belt, Inoue has a bright future ahead of her in combat sports. And she’s only 18 years old.

In her fight with Hyatt, who was fighting with a partially torn MCL, Inoue showed defense, technique and instincts that some critics and fans may not expect from someone so young.

Although she’s only 18, Inoue has had an extensive combat sports resume before she made her Invicta FC debut. She made her MMA back in 2010, where she defeated Emi Murata (2-2). In her second bout, Inoue won the Jewels Rough Stone Grand Prix -56 kg tournament in her second match.

Inoue also comes from a kickboxing and shoot boxing background. In August 2012, she captured the 2012 Shoot Boxing Girls S-Cup 53.5 kg tournament championship.

With her win over Hyatt, Inoue has more than earned another fight with Invicta. With Hyatt’s injury, the Japanese fighter could get a rematch with the Rowdy one. She could also end up facing another top strawweight like Joanne Calderwood(7-0) or Ayaka Hamasaki (9-1), who defeated Ionue by decision back in 2011, though the Jewels promotion may also want to promote that fight.

With a championship and six wins under her belt, imagine how far Inoue can go if she can continue this already impressive run.
