Amanda Nunes Vs. Sheila Gaff Could Be A War

Although many fans are anticipating the featherweight title match between Jose Aldo and Chan Sung Jung, there is another fight on the UFC 163 that could have fans talking for ages.

Invicta FC and Strikeforce veteran Amanda “Lioness of the Ring” Nunes (7-3) faces Sheila “The German Tank” Gaff (10-5-1). Although the fight will be on the event’s preliminary card, Nunes and Gaff certainly have a chance to steal the show.

This is a big fight for both combatants. For Nunes, who will be stepping into the octagon for the first time, this is a chance to make a powerful first impression. As for Gaff, gives her the opportunity to rebound from the loss she suffered at the hands of Sara McMann (7-0) back in April.

With 12 knockout/TKO victories between the two of them, both the Lioness and the Tank have deadly striking. They also fight with that berserker style, similar to Cris “Cyborg” (12-1 1NC) and Wanderlei Silva (35–12–1 1NC), which means the fight would most likely be standing.

Although Nunes has a background in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and good grappling skills, Gaff may have been working on her takedown defense after the McMann fight. Still, if either fighter manages to gain top position, it could lead to some devastating ground and pound.

Both Nunes and Gaff are in the lower part of the UFC rankings. Whoever wins this match could possibly face Alexis Davis (14-5), who is one rank above The Lioness.
