Jessica Eye confirms Bellator release

One of MMA’s top flyweights is moving one step forward in her career.

Jessica “Evil” Eye confirmed on her Twitter that she was released by Bellator MMA. Eye also asked her fans to be respectful as they “helped her grow into the fighter I am.”

As a fan of the Evil one, I will abide by her wishes, but I will say that the promotion didn’t know what they had. That does not just speak for Eye, but for their women’s division as well. Still, while a fighter’s release can be a bad thing, it can also be a blessing in disguise.

Eye went 3-0 with the promotion, which included a submission win over Bellator 115-pound champion Zolia Frausto Gurgel. Now that she is no longer with Bellator, there are several opportunities out there for her.

She could fight for NAAFS, where she has already established herself as one of the top prospects in mixed martial arts.

The obvious choice for her would be to flock to Invicta Fighting Championships. Not only has the promotion have the strongest flyweight division in Women’s MMA, but also they have been signing Bellator stars, including Gurgel and Felice Herrig. There is no doubt Eye would be welcomed by the promotion by fans. Personally I would love to see a fight between her and Leslie Smith, after “The Peacemaker” fights for the flyweight title.

If she decided to jump up a weight class, she could always fight for the UFC, unless they add more weight classes to their women’s division.

Still, no matter where she fights next, fans will be watching.
