Anthony Pettis should fight Jose Aldo

Anthony “Showtime” Pettis stole history from Benson Henderson when he captured the UFC Lightweight championship at last night’s UFC pay per view in front of his hometown. of Milwaukee, Wis.

Although he is fresh off of his title victory, Pettis could find himself writing a new chapter in the history books.

After he defeated Henderson, Pettis called out current UFC Featherweight champion Jose Aldo.

I’ve said it before. A match between Aldo and Pettis has the potential to be a “Match of the Year” candidate no matter if it is held at 155 pounds or 145. If he decides to fight Aldo for the featherweight title, he could be the first fighter in UFC history to simultaneously hold two titles in two different weight classes.

Aldo had been scheduled to defend the featherweight title against Pettis back at UFC 163. Pettis suffered an injury that would force him out of the match with Aldo, much to the dismay of MMA fans. If Aldo had fought and defeated Pettis, he would earned a shot at the lightweight title. Pettis had been replaced by the “Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung, who Aldo beat at UFC 163.

Although he has never fought at 155, Aldo is more than qualified for a shot at the title.
