I just watched a BBC documentary about gladiators who fought in the Roman times.
The documentary, “A Gladiator’s Story,” provides an in depth look at some of the key players who fought in the area, as well as the details about a gladiator’s life.
Although combat was not as brutal as it was portrayed in Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator,” a gladiator’s life still had its hardships.
One of the things that really intrigued me was how some gladiators formed burial clubs to help pay for funeral services. They would also detail a gladiator’s origin and fight history on their tombstone. It kind of reminds me of the hardships and fellowship between professional wrestlers.
So if you have an hour to kill, I suggest watching it on Netflix, or just look watch it at the top of the page.
