MMA veteran Julie “Fireball” Kedzie may have trouble studying her next opponent, who is virtually unknown when it comes to MMA.
It was announced that Kedzie will face Russian fighter Aleksandra “Stitch” Albu at UFC Fight Night 33, Dec. 6.
Not much is known about Albu, other than she comes into the octagon with 1-0 record. In her MMA debut, back in June, Albu scored a first-round TKO victory over fellow Russian Lyubov Demidova.
Albu is a former competitive bodybuilder and supposedly has a 5-0 boxing record, though there is no official database that backs up that claim. She does train at Red Fury Fight Team alongside Vyacheslav Vasilevsky and Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Looking at this fight, it’s easy to have Kedzie as the favorite. She has a wealth of experience and has fought the best fighters of today and yesterday. She is also a third degree black belt in Taekwondo and trains with Jackson’s Submission Fighting down in Albuquerque N.M.
Even if Albu had the 5-0 boxing record, she would have a tough time trying to get a knockout as Kedzie has a good chin and has never been knocked out in a fight, despite facing elite strikers like Gina Carano, Kaitlin Young and Germaine de Randamie.
Still, anything can happen in MMA and Albu could possess a skill-set unlike anything seen in mixed martial arts. Russia has also been known to produce some amazing fighters and Kedzie is a smart enough fighter not to underestimate her opponent.
While the main event between Mark Hunt and Antonio Silva will surely be a war, the fight between Kedzie and Albu could be a great striking match that could steal the show.
