Wolf Point Blue Earth Boxing Club

This past Sunday I had a chance to talk to some local kids who competed in a boxing tournament, Nov. 2. The original plan was to publish the photos and cutlines in the newspaper, but we did not have room this week.

Isaiah Martell competed in the Fort Belknap Boxing event, Nov. 2. Martell, who was fighting for the first time, said he performed well in the fight against his opponent Michael Jackson, but via split-decision. He said he experience was “pretty cool.”

Tarryn Lilley fought at the Fort Belknap boxing event, Nov. 2. Lilley defeated Trevor Shortman, 20 seconds into the fight, after performing a two-hit punching combination to the head and the stomach.

Dylan Jackson fought at the Fort Belknap boxing event, Nov. 2. He faced Little Rocket Man at the event. Jackson threw a couple of hooks and uppercuts in the first round, but would take some punishment in the second round. Jackson did enough damage to win the third round and the fight. Jackson said he had a good time. His favorite fighter is former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell.

Brandon Hapa fought at the Fort Belknap boxing event, Nov. 2. He went 1-1 in the competition. He lost his last fight after his opponent Master Blaster delivered a right hook and a left jab in the stomach area. After Hapa took a knee, the referee stopped the fight. Hapa thanked his coach Doug Garfield. His favorite fighter is former UFC champion B.J Penn.
