Sometimes a former boxer turned MMA pro will return to the ring and lace up the gloves again. This is the case with former WBO world champion Ana Julaton, who faces Yolanda Segura, March 6, in Mexico.
Julaton was 13-4-1 (2KOs) when she took a hiatus from the sport in 2013. In her last fight she won a majority decision over Perla Hernandez. Since then, she has made the transition into mixed martial arts. In 2014 she had a campaign of 2-1 including a third-round TKO over Aya-Saeid Saber.
Segura comes into the bout on a three-fight losing streak. She brings a lot of experience, as well as knockout power. She’ll also have the home crowd behind her.
This should be a good fight to welcome Julaton back to the Sweet Science and establish a comeback if she chooses to remain in boxing or split her time between that and MMA. It’s also a good way to keep active until her next mixed martial arts bout.
