History repeated itself for one member of the Cheney High boy’s swim team at the 2A state championships Feb. 20-21, at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.

Trevor Babcock once again finished seventh in the 200-yard freestyle in 1 minute and 47.73 seconds, which is 4.67 seconds faster than his time at last year’s state competition. Babcock also finished 11th in the 100 freestyle (49.59).
Scott Nadeau finished 10th in the 200 individual medley (2:05.33) and 15th in the 100 butterfly (56.09).

In team events, Babcock, Nadeau, Caleb Prophet and Brock Jongeward finished 10th in the 200 freestyle relay (1:35.49) and 18th in the 200 medley relay (1:51.51). As a team, Cheney finished 17th out of 37 with 40 points.

Although the team loses Prophet and Justin Barker to graduation, several swimmers, including Nadeau, Babcock and Jongeward are expected to return next season.
