Lisa Ellis steps in to face Bec Rawlings

Vicious grappler Lisa Ellis and Australian sensation “Rowdy’ Bec Rawlings both get a chance at scoring a win inside of the octagon, May 10, at UFC Fight Night: Hunt vs. Miocic on May 10 in Adelaide, Australia, which will be headlined by Stipe Miocic and “Super Samoan” Mark Hunt. UFC officials confirmed the match.

Ellis (15-9 MMA, 0-1 UFC) steps in for Seo Hee Ham, who pulled out of the fight with Rawlings (5-4, 0-1) due to injury. Rawlings and Ellis were castmates on “The Ultimate Fighter 20” who both had run ins with each other on the show and lost in the first round of the tournament. Both fighters also competed on the “TUF 20” finale. Rawlings dropped a decision to Heather Jo Clark while Ellis was submitted by Felice Herrig.

This should be an interesting bout. In one corner you have Rawlings, who is an aggressive striker and is not afraid to scrap. In the other you have Ellis, who is a pioneer for women fighters and has faced some key names during her career. She is also a dangerous grappler with 11 submissions to her credit.

Ellis will also have a hostile Australian crowd when she stands opposite Rawlings, but she’s been successful in foreign territory in the past, most notably in Japan where she won and defended the FFF flyweight championship.
