Mandy Bujold named WBAN fighter of the month

Canadian amateur star Mandy Bujold added another impressive accolade to her fight resume.

The Women’s Boxing Archive Network named Bujold as its “Fighter of the Month” for August.

Bujold, fighting at 51kg, captured the gold medal at the 2015 Pan Am games in Toronto, defeating Olympic medalist Marlen Esparza, 2-1, in the finals. This was her second Pan Am title, as she won first place in 51kg in 2011.

On her way to the finals she defeated Peru’s Lucy Valdivia Bravo (3-0) and Columbia’s Ingrit Lorena Valencia Victoria (2-0).

Buhold holds many amateur titles, including nine national championships. Now she is setting her sights on the 2016 Summer Olympics and Olympic gold.
