The Detroit Direvoles (6-3) jumped up to second place in the CGA standings after a 98.94-81.65 win over the Vancouver Totems.
Cam Newton was the leading scorer with 23.98 points after completing 21 of 26 passes for 217 yards and one touchdown. Newton also had a rushing TD.
Running back Todd Gurley (16.43) was the second leading scorer, having 12 carries for 45 yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins (10.80) and running back DeAngelo Williams (10.00) also broke the double digits.
The Direwolves Defense (Seattle Seahawks) shined with 14.20 points, far above their projected total of 9.08.
Detroit, who sits on top of the Eastern Division, returns to conference play to take on the Calgary Couels (4-5 overall, 2-2 division). Newton will continue quarterback duties over Palmer. Hopkins, who has been sidelined the last couple of days, confirmed that his knee is 100 percent and he is able to play on Sunday.
