For some fighters, the hardest battles are those outside of the cage.
UFC bantamweight Marlon Vera recently started a GoFundMe page, with help from his manager, in hopes to raise enough money to pay for a costly surgery for his 4-year-old daughter, Ana Paula.
Vera had hoped to earn enough money in his last fight against Davey Grant to help pay for the surgery, but that didn’t go as planned as he lost via decision. He’s hoping to return to the octagon in June or July. According to MMA Fighting, Ana Paula suffers from a rare neurological condition impedes her from having any type of facial expression.
“I’m going to prepare myself better and I won’t be doing any more training camps in Ecuador. I believe that’s the reason why I haven’t done so well,” Vera said in an interview with MMA Fighting.
The fighter from Ecuador is thankful for UFC colleagues like Fabricio Werdum, Carlos Condit, Derek Brunson and Bec Rawlings for sharing his page.
